The UKCGE Working Group ​“Quality and Reputation of the UK Doctorate” has recently responded on behalf of the Council, to the HEFCE Discussion Document for the Quality Assessment Review. The Council welcomed the opportunity to respond to the discussion document and our response focuses mainly on the impact of quality assessment arrangements on postgraduate programmes, although also makes some general points. While we address many of the specific questions posed, our comments are mainly at a macro rather than a micro level.
