UKCGE’s recently launched Graduate School Managers Network (GSMN) has received significant interest from members, supporters and associated organisations in the postgraduate Sector.

The GSMN which is explicitly for colleagues who are responsible for the operational management of structures within Universities attributed to the postgraduate student journey (such as Graduate/​Doctoral Schools/​Colleges and other) welcomes colleagues to London on Friday 5th of February 2016 for its inaugural meeting.

Dr Catherine Mills, Head of the Graduate School at Manchester Metropolitan University and UKCGE Executive Committee Liaison for the network said,

“I’m delighted to be involved with getting the Graduate School Managers Network off the ground, it is an exciting development and I’m thankful to Laura at Imperial for offering to host this inaugural meeting.”

Kindly hosted by Imperial College, the seminar will enable colleagues to come together, share experiences and begin to set a direction for the network moving forward. The event will feature a brief scene setting presentation from Laura McConnell, Imperial’s Graduate School Manager who will touch on some of the following themes for group discussion;

• The role of the Graduate School Manager
• The Director/​Manager relationship and stakeholder liaison
• Graduate School Management and Administration Structures
• Challenges for Graduate Schools

Laura McConnell, Manager of the Graduate School at Imperial College said,

“I am very much looking forward to the inaugural meeting of the GSMN. It will be a great opportunity for colleagues to get to know each other, share good practice and discuss challenges facing Graduate Schools. ”

The event will start with lunch and close with an informal drinks reception where attendees can network and discuss the day’s developments.
