The Postgraduate Education Practitioners’ Network (formerly the Graduate Education Managers’ Network) has welcomed a new Co-Chair, Susanna Broom, who is Head of the Doctoral School at the University of Sussex.

Susanna was successful in her application to Co-Chair the Postgraduate Education Practitioners’ Network following a call-out for participants. She takes over from Mary Beth Kneafsey (PGR Strategy Manager at the University of Glasgow) and will be working alongside current Co-Chair, Kerri Gardiner (Head of the Postgraduate Research Office at the University of Cambridge).

Susanna has worked with and for PGRs for over 13 years. Not only has she supported postgraduate taught (PGT) students at departmental level, she has personal experience of being a part-time distance-learning PGT student. She also brings a wealth of administrative experience to the role, not least as Secretary to the Academic Registrars’ Council’s (ARC) Postgraduate Practitioner Group, a post she has held for five years.

Before joining the University of Sussex, Susanna worked at the University of York (from 2010 to 2022), and prior to that, in Further Education. I’m thrilled to be co-chairing the Postgraduate Education Practitioners’ Network, which has been such a critical source of support and learning for me throughout my career,” she said.
