Annual General Meeting 2026
On March 20th 2026, we held our Annual General Meeting. Open to all, this is an opportunity to look back at the past year across the postgraduate sector, as well as preview what’s to come.
The Chair of UKCGE, Dr Rebekah Smith McGloin, welcomed attendees and talked through the governance structure, introducing both the Board of Trustees and the UKCGE Networks. She then highlighted the impact of the organisation over the past year. She talked through three major projects, including a recent partnerhip with Research England and the Office for Students to provide a platform for outputs from the racial equity in doctoral education work. She also looked at some of the impact data. “The numbers show high participation in events and networks and our continued reach across the sector. However, I think what matters most is what sits behind the numbers — a community that is actively shaping practice,” she said.
The Honorary Secretary of UKCGE, Carolyn Wynne, then took over and explained some of the work that has been happening behind the scenes with regard to governance. She explained that it was UKCGE practice to regularly review the constitution and ensure that our charitable aims, objective and purpose continue to meet the needs of the sector and the membership. She also spoke about plans to bring a revised constitution to the next AGM in Spring 2027. Carolyn also presented on the UKCGE finances (on behalf of the Honorary Treasurer, Dr James Bruce, who was unable to attend the meeting). Finally, a proposal to freeze the institutional subscription rates for 2026/27 was discussed and unanimously passed by the attendees.
If you were unable to attend, you can watch a recording of the AGM below.
