Developing a Growth Mindset

Julie Cheung

The Diversity Trust

This interactive workshop, hosted by Transitions and Transformations: The Black Researcher’s Journey — one of the 13 Research England-funded projects focused on racial equity and access to postgraduate education — and The Diversity Trust, explores how adopting a growth mindset can support a PGR’s personal development, career goals, and research journey.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Define what a growth mindset is and distinguish it from a fixed mindset.
  • Recognise the benefits of adopting a growth mindset in both personal and professional contexts.
  • Identify common limiting beliefs and reframe them using growth-oriented language.
  • Apply simple strategies to begin cultivate a growth mindset in work and life.
