Brad-ATTAIN Good Practice Guide
The authors have created this guide as a practical resource to support more inclusive and equitable practice within the postgraduate research environment. It brings together the approaches, insights and examples that emerged from the Brad-ATTAIN project which could be applied widely across the UK higher education sector.
The material is designed to be used purposefully within local contexts. Some sections may be most relevant to academic departments, others to doctoral colleges, research development teams or senior leaders, and in some cases, we have made recommendations about usage and scope. Each section includes a set of self-audit questions which we recommend should be embedded strategically within your own context. The questions can be used individually or collectively, for example within supervisory teams, PGR committees or programme reviews. When used with PGR students, responses should be anonymised to ensure safety and encourage honest reflection.
Inclusion work is never finished, and this guide has been designed as a tool for ongoing improvement rather than a checklist to be completed. We hope that it helps you to prompt discussion, build on strengths, identify gaps and shape priorities.
