Disability Adjustments and the Viva

This online discussion will examine the considerations and adjustments required during the viva for doctoral candidates with disabilities.
While disability adjustments have become more routine and expected at UG and PGT level, there is much less clarity and visibility of what can – and should – be available for PGR students. This session will consider reasons why vivas can be particularly problematic for disabled PGRs, the often unwritten expectations around the role and purpose of vivas, how these relate to what is required to assess and award a level 8 qualification, and ways in which vivas can be routinely adjusted to remove barriers. There will be opportunities for discussion and sharing good practice.
