Democratic Approaches to Supervision
This interactive discussion event will include insights from AECED Transforming Education for Democracy through Aesthetic and Embodied Learning for Democracy — https://aeced.org/ — an Horizon Europe / UKRI funded project.
As part of the project, colleagues from the University of Hertfordshire led a research case which focussed on opportunities for professional learning for doctoral supervisors. Supervisors were encouraged to explore more democratic approaches to supervision, drawing on arts-based and embodied approaches to support reflection and foster professional learning.
Insights from that case research will be shared briefly along with an opportunity for you to participate in an art-based activity from the case research, collage, and to discuss your experience of that with others.
In preparation for the collaging, please have to hand a few ‘bits and bobs’ such as materials of different colours and textures that you might like to work with; for example, arts and crafts materials, stationery items such as paper clips, paper, pens, sticky notes, buttons, ribbon. . . you might also like to have a piece of paper – or use a flat surface such as a desk — to place them on.
