How Supervisors can support Neurodiversity-Affirmative PhD Students
In association with the Next Generation Research SuperVision Project (RSVP), we welcome Professor Deborah Riby from Durham University who will use insights from research on the lived experiences of neurodivergent PhD researchers to guide a focussed discussion on supervision practices for neuroinclusion.
The event will seek to answer questions such as: What small modifications to research supervision might be made to ensure we are working in neurodiversity-affirming ways and increasing the inclusivity of supervision practices? How might scaffolding by used to reduce uncertainty, how might feedback requirements be considered, and how can we increase opportunities for students to be ‘present’ within supervisory meetings?
In addition to the presentation, there will also be an opportunity for attendees to take part in a general discussion, sharing tips and best practices.
