Westminster Graduate School Annual Reception 2016

Over 150 guests attended the Graduate School’s Annual Reception on Wednesday 16 March which celebrates the breadth and quality of research carried out by the University of Westminster’s doctoral researchers.

14 final year or recently graduated doctoral researchers were selected to present their research on large scale posters. Members of staff, students, and external guests ranging from members of the University’s board of governors to professionals from all areas of industry enjoyed what was a very engaging and informative evening.

The event provides a valuable opportunity for the presenters to talk about their research, its wider relevance and possible applications, to a large number of people in an informal setting. The ability to explain research to a wide range of audiences is an important skill for successful researchers.

The Graduate School supports the development of its doctoral research community through the Doctoral Researcher Development Programme (DRDP), offering opportunities to engage with workshops such as public speaking and how to present research effectively in a variety of media.

The Annual Reception marks the culmination of a long period of intense work and provides an opportunity to thank the doctoral researchers for the valuable contribution they make to the university’s research environment.
