The conference programme for the 2016 Annual Conference which takes place at Liverpool’s Town Hall on the 4th and 5th of July is now published.

The conference programme for the 2016 Annual Conference which takes place at Liverpool’s Town Hall on the 4th and 5th of July is now published.

The Council’s key meeting aims to bring together key stakeholders of the postgraduate education community to widen understanding of excellence in teaching, supervision and programme design and institutional structures and how to support and reward excellence generally.

The meeting will host the following keynote presentations:

  • Managing the post- graduate student experience — lessons from a cross-sector analysis, Dr Aulay Mackenzie, formerly Teesside University
  • Reflective teaching and notions of excellence, Professor Paul Ashwin, Lancaster University 
  • High Quality supervision in doctoral education, Professor Pam Denicolo, University of Surrey
  • Supporting Excellence in Postgraduate Education panel session featuring Shane Dowle, University of Surrey, Dr Catherine Mills, Manchester Metropolitan University and Rachel Tod, University of Liverpool

The event also boasts over 35 papers from UKCGE members and supporters, a number of poster sessions from Council working groups, 2 symposia sessions for Deans, Directors and Graduate School Managers and a rooftop drinks reception with dinner at Oh Me Oh my; a grande café in a grade two listed building opposite the iconic liver building.

UKCGE Event’s officer Angus Burns said,

We are looking forward to welcoming members and supporters to Liverpool for the final and most important UKCGE meeting of the 2015/16 academic calendar. The town hall in Liverpool is a fantastic venue and personally I am very excited to be running an event there.’

Colleagues who are attending the event are encouraged to explore accommodation around the Princes Dock which is just a five minute walk from the Conference Venue.’
