Professor Rosemary Deem awarded OBE in Queen’s Birthday Honours
Previously Dean of History and Social Sciences, Rosemary joined Royal Holloway in 2009 from the University of Bristol. She is an Academician of the Academy of Social Sciences, has been an RAE sub-panellist (1996, 2001, 2008), twice chaired the British Sociological Association and was Vice-Chair of the Society for Research into Higher Education (2007–2009). In addition to being an elected member of the UK Council for Graduate Education, she is also an Editorial Board member of The Sociological Review, Studies in Higher Education, Equal Opportunities International, Higher Education and Higher Education Quarterly.
In her role as Vice-Principal, she takes responsibility for teaching, learning, assessment strategy/policy and quality assurance for undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research degree programmes.
Professor Rosemary Deem said: “I was thrilled to hear of this award and hope it will make a small contribution to raising the profile of female social scientists working at senior levels in UK higher education.”
