On July 3^rd and 4^th 2023, we welcomed 120 delegates to our Annual Conference: Ensuring Quality and Delivering Growth in Postgraduate Education. The event – hosted by UKCGE, Trustee Dr Gale Macleod and the University of Edinburgh – considered how the rapid growth in the postgraduate sector should be managed while still maintaining quality. 

We are seeking a Co-Chair for the GEM Network. The call for nominations closes on September 29^th 2023.

• The £4.6million Research SuperVision Project (RSVP) will run for four years from Autumn 2023, led by the University of York.
• Over 20 universities, plus major industries such as Unilever and the BBC, will contribute to the project.
• Outputs will include the benchmarking of professional development for research supervision and the creation of world-leading professional development resources.

A new Competency-Based Admissions Framework is in development thanks to a project led by Nottingham Trent University in collaboration with Liverpool John Moores and Sheffield Hallam Universities, and with assistance from UKCGE.

The Graduate Outcomes survey is the biggest annual social survey in the UK and captures the perspectives and current status of graduates. All graduates who completed a higher education course in the UK after August 2017 are asked to take part in the survey 15 months after they finish their studies.

On June 9^th 2023, we welcomed delegates to Friends House in London for the ​‘Mental Health and Wellbeing of Part Time and Distance Learning Postgraduate Researchers’ workshop, run in partnership with the University of Portsmouth. The event drew attendees from across the country to investigate methods of support for this little-discussed group.

Following the AGM on March 24^th 2023, a new business model was unanimously approved by UKCGE members.

We are pleased to announce the election of three new Trustees to our Executive Committee, agreed at the AGM on March 24^th 2023. 

UKCGE are pleased to confirm the list of candidates standing for election to the Council’s Executive Committee in 2023. A total of 20 candidates will stand for election, with three places available on the committee. 

3 places on the UKCGE Executive Committee are available. The deadline to submit an application is 24th February.
