UKRI launched its new Statement of Expectations for Doctoral Training in January 2024. The statement sets out expectations for funders, research organisations (including supervisors), collaborators and students. It aims to simplify expectations while maintaining flexibility and embedding equality, diversity and inclusion within postgraduate research.

In this participatory workshop, we’ll examine the content of the statement, considering its implications for practice within the sector. There will be opportunities to delve into challenges, reflect on how to make the most of opportunities and share examples of current good practice within the session.

Participants will

  1. Gain a more in depth understanding of the Statement of Expectations for Doctoral Training
  2. Learn about current and emerging practice in the sector which could support delivery of the expectations
  3. Reflect on challenges associated with delivering against the expectations, and how these could be addressed
